iMapmyride is the iPhone app version of Mapmyride, which anyone can use on the web for free. The web app is one of several competing sites where users can upload their ride data, either manually generated in Googlemaps or from their GPS units. Other riders can access these routes and their telemetries in a social networking manner. In that regard, it's like bikely.

Anyway, the iPhone version is simple and awesome. It functions like a stopwatch, much the way your GPS-enabled bike computer does. It's just capturing the data as you ride. No different than the expensive Garmin system. speed, location, altitude, etc (everything but cadence and heartrate)... but unlike the Garmin, where you have to manually upload to the supernet via USB, this app will send your 'sensitive shit' directly to your iMapmyride page using the phone's data network. Sweet!

One reason why it's not the BEST... Apple hasn't activated background tasking yet. So, if you have this running, you need to disable auto sleep, and not use anything else... even... the iPod. So that's a dealbreaker. For now. Until background tasking is enabled, which will be in the next two firmware updates...
